Head of the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Research Lab
Prof. Driscoll has performed research in spine biomechanics in both academic and industry contexts with notable contributions: from the advancement from fundamental research of novel concepts of spine and musculoskeletal biomechanical responses to different load vectors; to the applied research evaluating the impact of medical devices on spine biomechanics; and all the way to the translational research of the conception, validation, and commercialization of his own spine related inventions and simulation platforms.
Overall, over the last 6 years, Prof. Driscoll has authored 21 publications, 8 white paper reports, and 48 peer reviewed conference presentation. Moreover, during this time frame, Prof. Driscoll has co-invented 23 patent applications pertaining to the spine and successfully commercialized 3 spine medical devices currently being used in over 15 countries.
Currently, Prof. Driscoll is head of the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Laboratory at McGill University which leverages cross-disciplinary platforms and collaborations while studying spine biomechanics to generate and validate novel interpretations of spine stability.

HELENE M. LANGEVIN, MD
Professor in Residence of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Bernard Osher Professor in Residence of Complementary and Integrative Medical Therapies
Director, Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, Brigham and Women‘s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA
Dr. Langevin received an MD degree from McGill University in 1978. She did a post doctoral research fellowship in Neurochemistry at the MRC Neurochemical Pharmacology Unit in Cambridge, England, residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is a Professor in Residence of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women‘s Hospital. She is also a part-time Professor of Neurology, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She is the Principal Investigator of two NIH-funded studies investigating the role of connective tissue in low back pain and the mechanisms of manual and movement based therapies. Her previous studies in humans and animal models have shown that mechanical tissue stimulation during both tissue stretch and acupuncture causes dynamic cellular responses in connective tissue.
Dr. Helene Langevin was appointed as Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women‘s Hospital in November 2012. Through translational research, the Osher Center aims to test and implement integrated patient care, positioning itself as a thought leader in forging medical connections at the physiological, clinical, and community levels. In order to fulfill this mission, the Osher Center‘s strategic vision is to build a center without walls. This consists of a network of integrative medicine research, education and patient care throughout HMS, with ties to the Osher Centers at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

ANDRY VLEEMING,PhD
Ghent Medical University, Belgium; Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience, University of New England, Maine; Medical Charite University, Berlin, Germany
Dr. Vleeming is a professor in the Rehabilitation and Kinesiotherapy Department of the Ghent Medical University, Belgium, a professor working in the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience of the University of New England, Maine, USA, and visiting professor in the Medical Charite University, Berlin, Germany. He received his Ph.D. at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands, specializing in the anatomy, biomechanics and radiology of the human pelvis and spine. He founded the research group musculoskeletal system in 1990 at the same University to improve the diagnostic understanding of patients with chronic lumbar and pelvic pain.
Together with Prof Vert Mooney of the Orthopedic surgery department of UCSD, they founded the Interdisciplinary World Congress on lumbo pelvic pain. Since 1992 he has served as the chairman of this congress. Every 3 years the congress convenes and the next edition will be Antwerp, Belgium in 2019. In 1995 he founded in cooperation with the Dutch government, a specialized rehabilitation hospital for severe chronic lumbar and pelvic pain patients. For his work as founder/director of this clinic to successfully rehabilitate severe and often wheelchair bound patients with chronic cervical/lumbar/pelvic pain, he was honored a knighthood by the Queen of the Netherlands. He worked for the European Institution for Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) as chairman for the development of an European pelvic girdle pain guideline, which was published in 2008. Dr. Vleeming lectures worldwide about the clinical anatomy of chronic low back and pelvic pain. His research is focused on understanding chronic lumbo pelvic pain and to develop evidence based rehabilitation for chronic pain patients. World-wide he is working together as an expert in diagnosing patients with severe chronic pelvic girdle and spinal pain. Dr Vleeming has written more then 59 peer reviewed articles in leading musculoskeletal journals. He is the author of 15 books on the musculoskeletal system and editor of 20 books and 18 book chapters. One of these books is the book Movement stability and lumbopelvic pain published by Elsevier, cooperating with lumbo pelvic experts and translated in several languages.
