"A pioneer in the Fascial Net Plastination Project, Tracey Mellor is committed to advancing the science of movement."

This month, we are delighted to feature Tracey Mellor, a founding member of the Fascia Research Society whose diverse career and dedication to research have made her a pivotal figure in our community.

Since 2007, fascial anatomy and research have been integral to Tracey’s teaching. She has prioritised staying at the forefront of the field, attending Fascia Summer Schools in Ulm, Germany, and Winter Schools in Padua, Italy. Training under renowned researchers Robert Schleip and Divo Muller, she became a Master Trainer in Fascial Fitness. Tracey has since dedicated herself to bringing this knowledge to movement teachers through training courses, retreats in the UK, and presentations at the British Fascia Symposia.

In 2025, Tracey was awarded a Master's by Research from the University of Kent. Her thesis, An Ultrasound Investigation of the Thoracolumbar Fascia of People with and without Low Back Pain in Prone and Standing Positions, was presented at the 2025 International Fascia Research Congress in New Orleans.

Tracey has been a key contributor to the Fascial Net Plastination Project (FNPP) since its inception in 2018. She was part of the team that created FR: EIA, the world’s first whole-body human fascial-focused plastinate, which debuted at the 6th International Fascia Research Congress in Montreal in 2022. Today, she continues to serve on the FNPP and Travelling Collection Committee, helping to bring the Fascia Plastinate Travelling Collection to educational events around the globe.

Tracey is also an active contributor to industry literature. Her work appears in:

  • The Myofascial System by Lauri Nemetz (Handspring Publishing, 2023)
  • Pilates-Based Movement for Menopause by Dinah Siman (Handspring Publishing, 2024)
  • She is also the editor of Pilates for Children and Adolescents (Handspring Publishing, 2014).
