Microscopic Mysteries of Fascia: What New Science Tells Us about Hormone Receptors and Biochemical Production in Fascia

This webinar was presented on March 27, 2020. The first episode of the Fascia Academy webinar series featured renowned fascia researcher Carla Stecco, MD, who discusses the latest discoveries of microscopic structures within fascia and their implications on human function. She is interviewed by Nathaly Gaudreault, PhD. Rebecca Pratt, PhD is the webinar host.

A new class of cells in fascia--termed fasciacytes--plays an important role in the production of hyaluronan. Levels of hyaluronan/hyaluronic acid have been found to facilitate or inhibit gliding between layers of deep fascia and muscle. Additionally, research has found that the extracellular matrix changes in response to hormone levels.

Highlights from the World Congress on Low Back and Pelvic Pain

This webinar was presented on November 12, 2019. As speakers at the 10th Interdisciplinary World Congress on Low Back and Pelvic Girdle Pain (Applying the Evidence to Reduce Disability) held in Antwerp from 28-31 October, Mark Driscoll, P.Eng, PhD and Robert Schleip, PhD, MA discussed findings presented at the Congress. Topics covered included the biomechanical implications of fascia in spinal stability and back pain and the regulation of fascial stiffness, plus highlights from other speakers.

Rebecca Pratt, PhD, moderator and host of the webinar, facilitated the discussion and questions asked by webinar participants..
